Ronald H. Dodd, CPRP, with over thirty-five years experience, is presently Director of Parks and Recreation for the Joliet Park District in Illinois, the 1993 National Gold Medal Award winner.  He has served as Deputy General Superintendent at the Chicago Park District, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for the City of Dallas, and prior to that Executive Director for Park Ridge Recreation,a  Park District in Park Ridge, Illinois.  He is a Past-President of the 7,000 member American Park and Recreation Society; served as President of the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration; and served as President of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.  He is also a member of the International Federation of Park and Recreation Administration.  He served as Chairman of the Board of Regents for the nationally recognized Revenue Sources Management School and the National Institute of Golf Management held at Oglebay Park in Wheeling, WV.  Dodd received a private foundation grant in 1987 to tour parks and gardens in England; and, in the spring of 1989 he toured parks and gardens and lectured at universities in Japan, China and Korea.  He is the recipient of the prestigious Charles K. Brightbill Award from the University of Illinois.  The National Park Foundation awarded him the prestigious Cornelius A. Pugsley Medal.  The Illinois Park and Recreation Association selected him for the Robert Artz Award.  He received the National Recreation and Park Association highest honor, the National Distinguished Professional Award; and Luther College awarded him the Distinguished Alumni Award; and most recently the University of Northern Iowa's E.J. McElroy Scholar Award.  He has been an adjunct faculty member with the Recreation Administration Department at the University of St. Francis in Joliet for the past 9 years.
